About the set
  • Issued in 1961. Colour, numbered A 1–A 150, 150 cards.
  • Not sold in packs but as a bingo-style game called "Filmstjärnespelet – 5 kartor och 50 lösa kort". Each box held five boards with ten pictures each, plus 50 loose cards showing the same pictures.
  • There were three boxes: one for No 1–50, one for 51–100 and one for 101–150.
  • The game was for 2–6 players. A caller gave each player a board, shuffled the loose cards face down and turned them over one at a time, reading out number and name. Whoever had that picture on their board covered it, and the first full board won.
Variants and printings
  • Every picture exists both as a loose card and as part of a bingo board.
  • About 95 percent of the pictures are the same as in 1961 D Plain Text Set, on the same numbers. Only seven numbers differ: No 1, 14, 24, 34, 129, 131 and 141. The pictures on those seven also turn up in the 1962 TEVE Set.
How to recognise
  • The number has an "A" in front, printed with a space and a dot, as in "A . 102", together with the star's name.
  • The boards carry the same pictures with number and name. Pictures cut out of a board are common. They usually have uneven edges and are often shorter or narrower than a normal card, while a loose card has straight edges and full size.
  • The colours are mostly brighter and clearer than on the same pictures in 1961 D Plain Text Set, which tend to look darker.
  • Don't mix it up with the 1952 A and Ab Set, made about ten years earlier, or with the 1959 A Set (Serif), which also puts an A before its numbers.
Numbers to know
  • The set as a whole is fairly uncommon, because it only came out as a game. No number is harder to find than the others.
  • Collectors want the loose cards; cut-out board pictures count as the lesser version.
Double number
  • #112 Pascale Petit / Louis Armstrong
