About the set
- Issued in 1980. 78 cards, numbered 501–578: exactly one cut printing sheet.
- Nearly all pop. The exceptions are one Ingemar Stenmark card (577) and one Trazan o Banarne card (563). A few others come from film and TV, such as Olivia and Martin in Xanadu (542) and Lilla huset på prärien (553, 554).
- Sold in pink wrappers printed "10 st Samlarbilder Bytesbilder", "pop" and "IDOLER", with a window that shows the top card.
How to recognise
- 1974 Popbilder No Period I uses the same numbers 501–578 without a period. 1975 Popbilder Period After Number III shares 547–578 and also uses a period, so check the name: No 547 here is Bay City Rollers, there it is Abba.
Numbers to know
- Six cards carry the wrong band's picture:
- 520 is named Pretenders but shows Dire Straits.
- 522 is named Clash but shows Jam.
- 529 is named Madness but shows Pretenders.
- 538 is named "Direstraits" but shows Boomtown Rats.
- 540 is named Boomtown Rats but shows Madness.
- 545 is named Jam but shows Clash.
- Some names are spelled oddly in the set's list, for example "Bruce Springsten" (519), "David Bovie" (526), "Cat Stewens" (544), "Steve Wonder" (551) and "Kate Busch" (569). The list does not always match the card exactly (card 508 reads "John och Yoko"), so whether the cards carry these spellings is unclear.
