Popbilder Unnumbered Series
Many cards are common, but some are really hard to find. The five parts are told apart only by the typeface of the card text, and in the 1966 part two Lollipops pictures come with a yellow or a pink background.

Good to know
- Most cards in the set have no laminate. Only some of the earliest ones, from the 1965 part, have a plastic-coated front.
- A wider group is harder than average: all six Rolling Stones group cards (57–62) and Mick Jagger (56), one more Beatles card (7), the Lollipops cards 35 and 37–40, The Birds, Bootjacks, Gonks, Sven-Erik Magnusson, The Seekers, Sandie Shaw, The Small Faces, Sonny and Cher, The Walker Brothers, The Who and both Ann-Margret cards (81, 82).
More about this set
About the set
- The big pop-card set of the late 1960s: 310 cards issued 1965–68, mostly pop groups and singers, with some film, TV and other subjects.
- No card carries a number. The cards fall into five parts, each with its own typeface for the card text:
- 1965, 45 cards: 1965 Popbilder -65
- 1966, 95 cards: described in this file
- 1967, 84 cards: 1967 Popbilder - 67
- 1967–68, 48 cards: 1967 Popbilder - 67-68
- 1968, 38 cards: 1968 Popbilder - 68
- On the site all 310 cards are on this one page. Each card is marked with its part ("65", "66", "67", "67-68", "68") and a reference number within that part. The reference numbers are not printed on the cards.
- Sold in packs of ten marked "TV", a year and "10 Popbilder": "TV 64" (a cardboard pack), "TV 66", "TV 67" and "TV 68".
- The 1966 part has 95 cards: 93 pictures plus two colour variants. Mostly pop, plus a few film stars, five cards of the Cartwrights from Bonanza, two of Lassie and one of James Bond.
- The 1966 part was printed on large sheets of 6 x 13 = 78 cards. An uncut 78-card sheet of it is known, 44 x 61 cm.
Variants and printings
- The 1966 part had two printings. The reprint changed the background of both Lollipops pictures from yellow to pink and swapped 15 cards for new ones: 78 + 2 + 15 = 95.
- So two Lollipops pictures exist in both yellow (first printing) and pink (reprint): ref. 37 and 38 are one pair, 39 and 40 the other.
How to recognise
- There is no number on the front. The part a card belongs to shows in the typeface of its text; there are five typefaces, one per part.
- The packs mostly match the parts, but not strictly. "TV 64" packs hold 1965 cards. "TV 66" packs hold almost only 1966 cards, though an odd 1965 card can turn up in one. "TV 67" packs hold mainly 1967 cards, perhaps with a stray card from 1968-69 Big Western Series. "TV 68" packs mix the 1968 part with 1967 and 1967–68 cards.
- In the 1966 part The Byrds are spelled "The Birds" on the card.
Numbers to know
- Across the set many cards are common, but some are really hard to find. The notes below are for the 1966 part; the other parts have their own files.
- The hardest 1966 cards are two of the Beatles group cards (ref. 3 and 8), one Hep Stars card (28), one Tages card (73) and one Tommy Blom card (75).
- The rest of the 1966 part is common.
- When the 1966 part was reprinted, 15 cards were dropped and 15 new pictures took their place. The 15 new ones are much harder to find. The 15 they replaced are fairly common, which points to a larger first printing. Which cards make up the two groups of 15 is unclear.

- 1968-69 Big Western Series: the western set that followed, also unnumbered and split by typeface. A "TV 67" pop pack may hold a stray card from it, and the Cartwrights and Winnetou appear in both sets.
