Good to know
- No 32 Marilyn Monroe has the same picture as No 32 in the Dutch "Serie S - Printed in Holland".
- The card carries the star's name, "Serie S", sometimes a studio, and "No." with the number, for example "Serie S 20th C. Fox No. 5" on Marlon Brando.
- All other cards are common.
More about this set
About the set
- Issued in 1957. Numbered 1–101, but 120 cards in all, because 19 numbers come in two text sizes.
- A common mixed set of film stars, western stars and Lassie.
- Published by Svenska Handelskompaniet in Malmö. Two wrappers are seen with the set: a tan one with "HOLLÄNDSKA FILMSTJÄRNEBILDER äkta FILMFOLIE-yta" and a rider on a white horse in the window ("Serie nr 522", stamped over with "554"), and a green one with "Serie nr 244" and "10 världsberömda FILMSTJÄRNOR i strålande färger".
Variants and printings
- 19 numbers exist with two sizes of caption text: No 5, 9, 14, 25, 27, 45, 46, 59, 61, 63, 65, 68, 70, 78, 80, 84, 87, 88 and 101. The smaller lettering is the common version. The same picture with normal, large lettering is much harder to find.
How to recognise
- A Dutch "Serie S - Printed in Holland" also exists. It was not sold in Sweden and is much harder to find.
Numbers to know
- The large-text versions (see below) are much harder to find than the small-text ones.
- No 101 (Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels) is uncommon even with small text. It shows the same subject as No 68.
- No 100 Clayton Moore is fairly uncommon. It has the same picture as No 43 Clayton Moore.
Related sets
