Good to know
- Mirror-image variants exist of No 32 Boy Bomba (Johnny Sheffield), No 34 Barbara Fuller and No 35 William Elliot & Catherine McLeod. On the No 35 variant the pair faces right and the names are in straight type.
- The number is followed by the set letter, as in "8 B" or "27 B".
- No 29 Roy Rogers is a double number. The standard card shows him in a green-check shirt, the same picture as 29 A. The other shows him in a red-check shirt, the same picture as 1 Ab and 29 Ab.
More about this set
About the set
- Issued in 1952, numbered 1–35. The total is given both as 38 and as 39 cards, so the exact count is unclear. The 35 numbers plus the second No 29 picture and three mirror-image variants make 39.
- Same kind of pictures as the 1952 A and Ab Set.
- In Holland the cards were collected in small "hollywood strips" albums. One Dutch album has spaces for both this set and the A and Ab set.
Variants and printings
- Some cards exist both with and without the studio name.
- Cards No 1–35 were also issued in Holland on thick card with small capital letters.
How to recognise
- Most cards name the studio: "M.G.M.", "Rep. Pict." or "Par.". No 32 has "Monogram".
- Dutch copies on thick card with small capital letters are shorter than the regular cards.
Numbers to know
- No 1 Ricardo Montalban: a card in an album reads "Ricardo Montelban".
- The hardest numbers are No 3 Jane Powell, 4 Bob Hope, 5 Loretta Young, 7 Veronica Lake and 31 Anna Maria Alberghetti. No 2 Frank Sinatra, 22 Judy Canova, 23 Virginia Grey, 26 Jane Powell and 33 Dale Evans are a little easier.
- All other numbers, including both No 29 pictures and the mirror-image variants, are the most common.
