Idol Favorites Series
Scarce: it reached only a few Stockholm tobacco shops, four cards to a packet, just as colour cards arrived, and most of the stock went unsold. The four John Derek cards are the hardest to find.

More about this set
About the set
- Issued in 1951 as "Idolbilds Favoritserie". 16 black-and-white cards in normal (full) size, with no numbers.
- One of the earliest film-card sets. The pictures are very fine and sharp.
- Published by Jarl Engström (1920–1995), a Stockholm music-shop owner who made several film-card series from the late 1940s. He also issued a smaller-format series of about 700 pictures.
- Sold four cards to a packet, in red, green or blue packets. These were probably the first film cards sold several to a packet.
- Sold only in a few tobacco shops in Stockholm.
- The set was packed for the 1951 Christmas trade, but coloured cards reached the shops at the same moment and black-and-white cards lost their appeal. Most of the stock went unsold, and only a few cards ever got into circulation.
How to recognise
- Each packet seen also holds an insert marked "PUSSY CAT".
Numbers to know
- The cards are unnumbered.
- The whole set is scarce, since so few cards were ever sold. The four John Derek cards are harder to find than the other twelve.
